Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated In Home Caregiver to provide essential support to individuals in their homes. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient care and a strong understanding of the needs of those requiring assistance, including seniors and individuals with disabilities. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting their overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
- Monitor and document patients' vital signs and health status, reporting any changes to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
- Administer medications as prescribed and assist with care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for transferring clients safely when necessary.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function, especially for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information.
- Collaborate with family members and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
Requirements
- Previous experience in home health care, assisted living, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid, CPR, and basic nursing skills is essential.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in condition or behavior promptly.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed for client transfers or mobility assistance.
- Familiarity with memory care techniques and dementia care practices is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
