As a Live-In Caregiver Driver, you will be the compassionate presence and trusted driver for clients, fostering a safe, comfortable, and engaging environment that promotes well-being and quality of life.
Duties
- Provide comprehensive personal care, including assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Safely transport clients to medical appointments, errands, social activities, and community events using company vehicle or client’s vehicle
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and assisting with medication administration in accordance with medical plans
- Maintain detailed medical documentation and electronic health records (EHR systems), ensuring compliance with HIPAA and home healthcare regulations
- Support clients with specialized needs such as dementia care, Alzheimer's care, hospice care, or end-of-life care by implementing tailored strategies and providing emotional support
- Assist with household tasks including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and light housekeeping to promote a safe and hygienic environment
- Operate medical equipment like Hoyer lifts or catheter care devices while adhering to safety protocols and best practices for geriatrics and disabilities
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home healthcare environments with a focus on senior or geriatric care
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and basic life support (CPR & First Aid)
- Exceptional patient observation skills to detect changes in condition or behavior promptly
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical documentation and record keeping
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams, family members, and clients’ support networks
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience in live-in employment preferred; ability to handle long shifts in a live-in setting
