Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Live-In Caregiver to provide exceptional care and support to an elderly patient in a warm, home environment. This role offers the opportunity to live on-site, ensuring personalized attention and fostering a comfortable, safe space for the individual. Duties
- Provide comprehensive personal care, including assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, managing medication administration, and maintaining accurate medical documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Assist with specialized care needs including Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, hospice support, catheter care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities
- Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and perform tasks like taking vital signs or assisting with medical procedures in accordance with healthcare protocols
- Prepare nutritious meals and handle light housekeeping duties including cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
- Document patient progress meticulously while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals when necessary to coordinate ongoing care plans within home & community care settings
Skills
- Proven experience in senior care or home health caregiving environments, especially long-term or assisted living settings
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication management, and medical documentation practices
- Excellent patient observation skills to detect changes in health status promptly
- Ability to assist with complex medical needs such as catheter care, hospice support, and dementia-related behaviors
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate record keeping and communication
- CPR certification and knowledge of emergency response procedures to ensure safety at all times
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills for working effectively with elderly patients and their families
- Ability to perform caregiving tasks such as meal preparation, light cleaning, laundry, and mobility assistance confidently
