This compassionate and reliable caregiver must be able to support and perform the emotional and physical needs of a dementia client.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in senior care, medical support, and community-based caregiving, demonstrating a genuine commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor and observe patient conditions, noting changes in health status and reporting findings accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Administer medications safely following prescribed schedules and document medication administration in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support clients with specialized needs such as Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, hospice care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Operate medical equipment, including Hoyer lifts, catheters, and vital signs monitoring devices, to ensure safety and comfort.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and assist with meal planning and preparation.
- Perform light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Utilize medical terminology accurately when documenting patient records or communicating with healthcare professionals.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive living environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care while adhering to privacy standards like HIPAA.
Requirements
- Proven experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care environments.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication management, and vital signs assessment.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical documentation and record keeping.
- Certification in CPR is required; additional certifications, such as hospice or dementia care, are advantageous.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is highly valued.
- Ability to operate medical equipment, including Hoyer lifts, and perform catheter care safely.
- Strong communication skills coupled with a professional attitude towards patient care and teamwork.
