Live-in Caregiver in Darien, CT - Client also splits her time in Newport, RI so someone comfortable traveling. Driving Required!
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful conversations and activities.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs and reporting any changes in condition to healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications as prescribed and assist with care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and preferences.
- Maintain cleanliness of the living environment, including light housekeeping tasks.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.
- Support clients with memory care, including those with Alzheimer’s or dementia, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities or autism, fostering independence while ensuring safety.
- Document care provided and maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
Experience
- Previous experience in home health, senior care, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with first aid, CPR, and basic nursing skills is advantageous.
- Experience working in group homes or assisted living facilities is a plus.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor changes in client conditions effectively.
- Skills in meal preparation, cleaning, and maintaining a safe living environment are essential.
