Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Live-In Caregiver to provide exceptional in-home support and personalized care for a 39 year old veteran with ALS with full support needs. This vital role involves offering comprehensive assistance with all daily activities, medication administration, and emotional support, all within a supportive and respectful environment. Duties
- Provide attentive care to the resident by assisting with all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, feeding, toileting, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings promptly to family members and healthcare professionals
- Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and preferences, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area
- Support resident with cognitive impairments such emotional dysregulation by remaining calm and supportive
- Support mobility and transfer tasks using appropriate techniques and equipment like the resident’s Hoyer lift or other assistive devices
- Document care activities meticulously, including medication administration, patient observations, and any incidents or changes in condition
- Collaborate with family and healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized care plans that address individual needs and goals
- Provide emotional support, companionship, and social engagement to promote mental well-being
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, and medication administration
- Hands-on experience with ALS, quadraplegic, terminal illness, or hospice care is advantageous
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia enhances your ability to provide specialized support
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for resident transfers or mobility assistance
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is essential; additional certifications such as nursing assistant training or home health aide credentials are a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to caregiving; excellent communication abilities are essential for collaborating with family members and healthcare teams.
