Overview
Great opportunity for someone who likes to be active in the outdoors! Two Bedroom apartment near campus to be shared with non-speaking autistic man in early thirties. Hourly wage is a minimum of 20 hours a week and max of 40 hours, health insurance, great benefits. FREE RENT and all utilities paid for. Every other weekend and one midweek night off (you stay in the apartment and individual goes to his family home). Apartment is small, but has a balcony with grill and lots of natural light. Couple who shares a bedroom is okay. Must be physically active as individual is very athletic and loves hiking and many other non-competitive sports. Eager to work with autism and interested in helping with his therapies. Generally great disposition and very happy, however, meltdowns are possible, but not violent. Family is very active in his life and will be flexible with class or other job schedule. Background check will be performed and references checked. Must be organized, keep a clean home, and enjoys being active. Full privacy provided for your room. Because this person is also a companion, individual prefers someone close to his age. Individual is a Speller and communicates with letterboard. He has full comprehension of everything and struggles only with the motor control to perform various tasks. Paid vacation time provided. Duties
- Provide daily personal care and companionship to individual, ensuring his comfort, safety, and well-being
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming and a healthy diet
- Perform all housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment
- Participate in various therapies with individual
- Engage him in meaningful activities, conversations, and social interactions to promote mental stimulation and emotional health
- Communicates with family often to update on concerns or ideas for meals and activities

- Ability to follow detailed care plans and instructions accurately
- Reliable, responsible, and able to communicate well
- Prior caregiving experience or relevant training is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential
