Caring Companions is seeking compassionate, dependable Live-In Caregivers to support seniors who wish to remain safely in their homes. Live-In Care is not the same as working 24 hours straight. You will remain on the premises for a full 24-hour period, but you will receive required sleep time, meal breaks, and off-duty rest periods each day.
This role is ideal for caregivers who enjoy building meaningful relationships and providing stability, companionship, and safety for clients who do not require awake-overnight care.
Responsibilities
What Live-In Care Looks Like
As a Live-In Caregiver, you will provide:
- Personal care & hygiene support
- Companionship & supervision
- Light housekeeping (no deep cleaning)
- Laundry for the client
- Meal preparation
- Safety oversight and general household support
Caregivers are not expected to:
- Provide awake-overnight care
- Perform heavy cleaning or yardwork
- Provide skilled nursing care
- Care for other household members
- Work during legally required rest/sleep periods
Qualifications
- Proven experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care settings.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to recognize signs requiring medical attention.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or memory impairments is highly desirable.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using proper techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Compassionate attitude with a commitment to providing respectful, person-centered care in a 24-hour setting.
